Home Remedy For Fleas
Flea control Preventative Care
Use an effective safe Flea Control product on your cat and/or dog on
a regular basis beginning one month before the flea season
starts, usually February/March depending upon temperature and
continuing up until one month after the flea season ends, around October/
November. Effective Flea Control products that are available include Program (lufenuron),
a product which can be administered orally and that inhibits the development
of the flea. Frontline (fipronil) and Advantage (imidacloprid), topical products
which are placed directly onto the skin which prevents and kills fleas.
Other points of Flea Control care is for frequent vacuuming and carpet cleaning strategies to
remove eggs and larvae from the cat or dogs indoor environment, including their beds and blankets.
A professional cleaning or exterminating service should be used in some
difficult cases.
You should always see your veterinarian promptly if your cat or dog develops acute
skin lesions (acute moist dermatitis) which could be a result of biting
or scratching at fleas. Frequent grooming of your cat with a
flea comb may also prove to be helpful in removing fleas in conjunction with one
of the Flea Control products named above.
